South End Soccer's mission is to give youth ages 5 - 14 the opportunity to play soccer and learn to engender a love of the game regardless of prior experience or economic means. We break down barriers so urban youth can get on field and have fun.
SES free programs include recreational league (350+ youth, Sep. - Nov.), travel teams (100+ youth, fall and spring, winter clinics open to all Boston youth, and summer soccer programming for neighborhood youth programs.
Opportunities for Adult Volunteers
Team Coach for U-8, U-10 & U-12 teams (4-5 hours per week from Sept. - Nov.)
Lead team of 10-12 players, playing on fields in South End & Roxbury.
Time Commitment: Communication with parents, 1 week night practice and 1 weekend.
Prior Experience: Helpful but not required, coach training and support provided.
Required: Encourage fun with the kids and have a lot of fun yourself.
Age Group Coordinator (4-5 hours per week from Sept. - Nov.)
Coordinate and manage communication for group of 4-8 teams (10-18 coaches).
Time Commitment: Send weekly updates to coaches, attend 1 week night practice and oversee. coverage for weekend games on fields in South End or Roxbury (Sat or Sun).
Prior Experience: Prior soccer experience helpful but not required, good organizational and communication skills are needed.
Required: Encourage FUN with the kids and have a lot of FUN yourself!
TOPSoccer: Head Coach & "Buddies" (2-3 hours per week from Sept. - Nov.)
Outreach program and community-based training program for young athletes with disabilities. Brings opportunity of learning and playing soccer to any boy or girl with a mental or physical disability.
Lead practices or assist participants with structured, fun activities, training provided.
Time Commitment: Saturday mornings @ 9am - 10am (fields in South End & Roxbury)
Prior experience: Exposure to work with youth with disabilities a plus but not required
Required: Encourage FUN with the kids and have a lot of FUN yourself!
Opportunities for Youth Volunteers and Youth Referees (Ages 14+)
Referees (1-4 hours on weekends from Sept. - Nov.)
Referee weekend games for (U8), (U10) or (U12) for paid stipend per game
Time Commitment: Games are between 9am-1pm on weekends at fields in South End & Roxbury, opportunity to referee multiple games
Prior experience: Must have some knowledge or previous exposure to soccer, training
Required: Encourage FUN with the kids and have a lot of FUN yourself!
TOPSoccer "Buddies" (2-3 hours per week from Sept. - Nov.)
Outreach program and community-based training program for young athletes with disabilities. Brings opportunity of learning and playing soccer to any boy or girl with a mental or physical disability.
Be a volunteer "Buddy" to one player and assist with structured & fun activities, training provided, great opportunity to give back and build community
Time Commitment: Sat. mornings from 9am - 10am at fields in South End & Roxbury
Prior experience: Exposure to work with youth with disabilities a plus but not required
