Ellis Early Learning Adds Five Directors to Board

Ellis Early Learning announces the appointment of five new members to its Board of Directors who will bring a wealth of experience in economics, finance, accounting and public policy to the board.

The new directors are:

  • David DesPrez, Managing Director at Bain Capital;

  • Jon Greeley, Economic Development and Public Policy Lead at Amazon;

  • Martha Miller, Vice President of Public Policy & Regulatory Strategy at Fidelity Investments;

  • Abby Paul, Partner of Asset and Wealth Management Sector at PwC; and

  • Duyum Ryan, Senior Vice President, Head of Finance Data and ESG at State Street Corp.

    "Ellis is delighted to welcome this incoming group of board members, who have rich and varied professional skills and knowledge," said Ellis Early Learning CEO Lauren Cook. "They understand the importance of our work for future generations and for the overall well-being of children."

    David DesPrez has nearly a decade of experience at Bain Capital, starting as an associate and advancing to managing director. Previously, he served as an associate in Distressed Opportunities Funds at Oaktree Capital Management and as an investment banking analyst at Goldman Sachs in New York City. DesPrez earned his bachelor's degree in economics from Brown University.

    Jon Greeley serves as an adjunct lecturer for city planning and urban affairs at Boston University's Metropolitan College in addition to his role at Amazon. Previously, Greeley served as director of development review at the Boston Planning & Development Agency for 14 years and as an account manager at Boston Private Industry Council. He currently serves on the Urban Land Institute Boston/New England board. Greeley earned a bachelor's degree from Saint Anselm College and a master's degree in urban and environmental policy and planning from Tufts University.

    Martha Miller previously served as director of the Office of the Advocate for Small Business Capital Formation at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C., and as partner at Balch & Bingham. Miller has served on various boards including the Rotary Club of Birmingham, Innovation Depot and Growing Kings. She earned her bachelor's degree in cognitive neuroscience, communication studies and French from Vanderbilt University and holds a juris doctor degree from Georgetown University.

    Abby Paul has over 16 years of experience in the asset and wealth management sector at the professional services firm PwC. She has served on Ellis's Board of Trustees, which is separate from the Board of Directors, since 2021 and serves as co-chair of PwC's Northeast Women's Leadership Council. Paul received her bachelor's and master's degrees in accounting from the University of New Hampshire.

    Duyum Ryan has held various roles at State Street including managing director, head of finance data and managing director of finance and risk infrastructure and business solutions. Previously, Ryan served as vice president at Morgan Stanley and as manager at Deloitte US. She earned her bachelor's degree in finance from Syracuse University.
