There is a preliminary election for some candidates for Boston City Council, including those for District 7, which includes some parts of the South End.

Important Dates

Deadline to register to vote in preliminary election is Sept. 2

Early voting begins Sept. 2 - 8 early voting.

Visit the www.boston.gov/departments/election or www.sec.state.ma.us for mail-in ballots and voting locations.

Sept. 12 Preliminary election day. Polls open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. to cast their votes in races for Districts 3, 5, 6, and 7 (the only races that require a preliminary election).

Oct. 28: The deadline to register to vote in the general election is 5 p.m.

Oct. 31: The deadline to request your vote-by-mail ballot for the general election is 5 p.m.

Nov. 7: General election day. Polls open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. to cast their votes for district and at-large city councilors.
